Finally Earthquake hits INDIA!!!

A moderate 5.6-magnitude earthquake jolted northern and central Pakistan including the capital Islamabad on Monday but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, an official said.

The epicentre of the quake was 188 kilometres (117 miles) north of Islamabad in Faizabad district of northern Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountain range, chief meteorologist Mohammad Riaz told.

Tremors were felt at 2:49 pm (0949 GMT) in several cities in central Punjab, northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital Islamabad, and parts of Kashmir, he said.

The US Geological Survey confirmed the earthquake and magnitude, adding that it struck at a depth of 184.6 kms. (AFP)


Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar and other parts of the valley were jolted by a 5.7-magnitude earthquake on Monday afternoon, an official said.
Sonam Lotus, the director of the local weather office, said: 'An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Srinagar and other parts of the valley at 3.19 p.m.

'The quake was of moderate intensity with its epicentre in the Hindukush region at latitude 36.5 degrees north and longitude 17.9 degrees east,' she said.

The tremors were felt by residents of Srinagar, but no loss of life or property has been reported so far
